Oscars Challenge #16: The Departed (2006) Movie Review

Curse words there, curse words everywhere.

Martic Scorsese's action-packed film The Departed is an epic crime thriller about two persons who acted as a spy for two different groups. Collin Sullivan (Matt Damon) was planted by the Irish Mob Boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) to the police. Meanwhile, Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio), a police undercover was assigned to infiltrate Costello's crew. Tensions arose when the 2 moles wanted to figure out each other's real identities.

Stacked with several star-studded cast, Big names from Hollywood really made this film very much enjoyable. You got Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, and many more. It's like a Hollywood All-star movie.

The story of the film in my opinion is unlike any other. There are so many heart-stopping moments that made me hold on to my seat and just enjoy this one-of-a-kind roller-coaster type of film. I mean this is really one of those up-and-down movies that let you question every decision the characters make. It is also very action-packed, so you will never get bored really.

Though, this movie is not for everyone. There are so many curse words as well as some scenes that some might interpret as graphic or gory.

What I also love about this film is the foreshadowing elements. All throughout the movie, you will notice some indications especially if a character is going to die.

Definitely, this is one of those films that you should not miss out on.
